EPS 95 NEWS

Here’s the updated text:

Dear friends,

On February 3rd, a delegation from our AIUAC of EPS 95 Pensioners’ Association, comprising Atul Dighe, M. Janardhan Reddy, B. Rama Rao, and G. Venkata Ramulu, met the Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioner in Delhi from 3 pm to 4:30 pm and submitted our AIUAC representations. We further discussed the core issues of EPS-95 pensioners with Aparajita Jaggi and SK Gupta. However, nothing was finalized.

The officials gave their standard replies to our point-wise discussion, similar to what has been replied in every session of Parliament:

1. Minimum pension enhancement: The reply was that it is under examination by the Finance Ministry.
2. One more chance to pensioners who received demand letters and failed to remit the amount within the time: The reply was a standard one, with no consideration. The cut-off date is a cut-off date, and there’s no extension of time for them.
3. With regard to Trust Rules: The department is aware of the High Court orders, and EPFO will continue its legal fight, which is dependent on the Apex Court.
4. Pre-2014 cases: Our plea is that the Punjab and Haryana High Court has given favorable orders based on RC Gupta. We requested consideration for issuing general orders for all, so that many can benefit. The reply was that EPFO has decided to continue its legal fight in the Apex Court.
5. One more opportunity for eligible employees for a higher option: The reply was that there’s no consideration.
6. Some managements are not providing required information for early consideration of POHW: The reply was that it will be reopened as and when they submit information. Employees should insist their employer provide the same, and EPFO will support.

We also discussed other issues like medical facilities, travel concessions, and periodical meetings with concerned officials.

In view of the above discussion we suggest

1 the struggle for pre 2014 higher option must continue with committee formed at Bhopal at its apex.
2 Effort be made for restoration of all the applications that were rejected giving various reasons. They can be and should be restored for reconsideration.

3 court be moved for one more chance to be given to higher option persons who failed to pay as per the demand letter.

4 struggle must continue to change the negative mindset of ministers epfo and CBT members.

Together we stand.
