Subject: EPS-95 Pensioners Request Liveable Minimum Pension in CBT Meeting
EPS-95 pensioners have been suffering due to low pensions for many years. Despite contributing to the pension fund during their service, they are receiving very small pension amounts.
Most pensioners get only ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per month. This is not enough to live a decent life. With rising prices, this amount is too low for basic needs.
Pensioners’ associations across the country have been demanding a minimum pension of ₹10,000 per month. They also ask that this pension be linked to Dearness Allowance to match inflation.
Many senior pensioners also worked under the old FPS 1971 scheme or contributed to the CPF, but that service is not being considered. Because of this, their pension is even lower.
Old age requires financial independence. No one should be forced to depend on others in their final years. A liveable pension is not a luxury—it is a basic need.
To make things worse, fake news is spreading on YouTube and social media. Many pensioners are being misled with false updates about pension hikes.
This is causing more mental stress to already suffering pensioners. The government needs to step in and take action urgently.
The upcoming CBT (Central Board of Trustees) meeting on 11th July 2025 is very important. EPS-95 pensioners hope that the board will approve a reasonable and inflation-adjusted minimum pension in this meeting.
This will bring peace and dignity to lakhs of senior citizens who served the nation for decades.
We request the Hon’ble Labour Minister, Finance Minister, Labour Secretary, and the EPFO Commissioner to take this issue seriously.
Let the CBT members understand the ground reality and take a kind decision in favour of the pensioners.
