Subject: Earnest Appeal to Resolve the Issue of Minimum EPS-95 Pension Before Nationwide Pensioners’ Strike on 4th–5th August 2025
Respected Sir/Madam,
We humbly and urgently appeal to the Hon’ble Government to take immediate Cabinet-level action to enhance the minimum pension under EPS-95 to a liveable and dignified amount, indexed with Dearness Allowance (DA), in order to avert the NATION WIDE PROTEST and MASS GATHERING of thousands of ELDERLY PENSIONERS scheduled on 4th and 5th August 2025 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. Contd ..after Ad
The pensioners scattered across far away areas of different state places of the country are getting ready now for 2 to 3 days of long rail journey to new delhi uncared of health issues for the scheduled strike. Contd ..after Ad
Despite old age and health limitations, pensioners are being compelled to undertake journey for this agitation due to decades of neglect, surviving on unliveable pensions ranging from less than ₹1,000 to barely ₹3,000—amounts grossly inadequate in today’s cost of living.Contd ..after Ad
The major reasons for this deep crisis include:
Pension fitment on wage ceilings, ignoring actual salary at the time of retirement.Contd ..after Ad
Non -beneficial of higher pension of actual wages for insufficient pensionable service of EPS 95 in case of SENIOR PENSIONERS .
Deprival of higher pension of actual wages to pre 1-9-2014 pensioners by discrimination although being beneficiary of higher pension with good amount of pensionable service which needs to be RESTORED being A LONE BENEFIT under present provisions of EPS 95 as the requisite contribution to pension fund only matters for benefit of higher pension and not the timing of exercise of option that makes no imbalance in pension fund. Contd ..after Ad
No linkage to DA, despite rising inflation and erosion of real income—- to be necessarily linked to pension of EPS 95 as it is a SERVICE PENSION not a honorary pension. Contd ..after Ad
It is to be kindly noted that while the wage contribution – A component of Pay and DA goes to the pension fund and then why the D A is not linked to pension finds no clarity.
Non-recognition of service under FPS 1971, in which many pensioners contributed wages to the pension fund during the relevant period which was merged to EPS-95 for its operation. FPS 71 service together with EPS 95 for completion of 20 years and above is defined as pensionable service for the purpose of grant of two increments and not for pension calculation but only for two years weightage for pensionable service !! Here it is a great loss in pension benefit for senior pensioners who have had more service in FPS 71 and significantly less service in EPS 95 at retirement.Contd ..after Ad
The terminology of pensionable service is defined so as to avoid the appropriate benefit of pension to EPS 95 pensioners ! Contd ..after Ad
By all these inappropriate definitions of pension system of EPS 95 the pre 1-9-2014 retirees happen to receive meagre pension on ceiling wages and even on higher pension of actual wages too as well.
So the senior pensioners even with the service of 35 years or more under FPS 71 and EPS 95 together under the existing provisions are not able to receive full pension all because of inappropriate definition and different application of pensionable service.
Pension is a reward for past service and also it is a means to prevent poverty in old age but deprivation of all the above normal provisions of service pension has brought havoc in the lives of EPS 95 pensioners . Contd ..after Ad
ALTHOUGH IT IS HAILED IN THE GUISE OF A SOCIAL SECURITY BUT SADLY IT HAS TURNED OUT A NIGHTMARE and MAN- MADE CURSE .
The demand is modest but vital: a liveable minimum pension , adjusted to inflation via DA, which aligns with the national average cost of minimum living that runs now not less than Rs 10000. Contd ..after Ad
This is not a luxury but the bare minimum for food, housing, healthcare, and basic dignity in old age.Contd ..after Ad
This long-standing demand is rooted in the principles of social justice, constitutional equality, and human dignity.
We believe the Hon’ble Government is sensitive to the plight of senior citizens who have served the nation in various capacities during their working lives.Contd ..after Ad
The EPS 95 pensioners having lead a contented life while in service but lost it on retirement , are now aspiring to get it back in somewhat better life during retirement period by a liveable pension.
Let their aspirations not go in vain while alive as LIFE IS TO BE LOVED and LIVED IN HAPPINESS FOR WHATEVER TIME IT LASTS.
We, therefore, sincerely request you to:
Approve a Cabinet decision granting a liveable, inflation-linked liveable minimum pension under EPS-95 to avert the mass impending protest preventing further mental and physical distress of despondencies to lakhs of pensioners across India.
Your timely coordinated kind decision can bring peace, dignity, and relief to lakhs of suffering senior citizens and avoid an avoidable nationwide strike.
With utmost respect and hope,
Sincerely yours,
TELUGU

What ever request even by begging or by any other method this bjp govt never cared about the old aged pensioners. That is long. Wish of modiji to suppress the old aged pensioners in their oldages.
Since last ten years only Representations from the unions and Individuals,
But no any response from the UNION GOVERNMENT towards Higher Pension issue!!!
Elections are going,
Governments are changing!!!
But no favourable response from all Governments !!!!!
